Tiny Epic RPG is a cool, deck driven, RPG that we bumped into at Nashcon this year. Here is an interview with the developer, Todd Lyles.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m an artist, game designer, and IT professional living in Nashville, TN with my lovely wife and wild menagerie.

2. How long have you been involved in the hobby and what games do you enjoy?

I’ve been role-playing for about 32 years. The systems that have had the biggest impact on my game designs have been D&D, WEG Star Wars, Castle Falkenstein, Amber Diceless, and BESM.

3. Tell us about TinyEpic. What makes it different from other RPG’s?

Tiny Epic RPG is a fantasy role-playing game that uses a set of illustrated cards to build characters and manage resources during the game. The focus is on “quick role-playing opportunities” such as conventions, one-shots with old friends, or when you have the occasion to introduce new people to the hobby. The cards allow you to make characters in seconds, with most of the rules you need to play on the cards themselves.  Because the game is focused on singular games, a lot of the rules present in longer-form games (character progression, equipment tables, etc.) were left out to keep the game as lean as possible.

4. What do you planned as far as future releases?

In addition to a third deck of character cards, I’m at work on a deck of cards for GMs to use to generate adventure ideas.  The “GM Deck” is the biggest request of my customers.

5. Where can people purchase your game?

The game (and its first expansion) are both available at TheGameCrafter.com  and an introductory adventure are provided at PlayTinyEpic.com. Also from there you can fan/follow Tiny Epic or sign up for the mailing list to know where I’ll be running a demo game next – if you buy the game directly from me I have some special promotional cards you can add to your deck.

Tiny Epic is a fun, creative game and we wish Todd a lot of success! Good Gaming – Cory
