“What of Slocum wasn’t slow?” A scenario for July 1st, 1863 Northeast of Gettysburg.

“The Corps could easily have joined in the battle the first day. The distance from our starting point to the battlefield might have been traversed by noon”. – E.R. Brown, 27th IN, 3rd Brigade, 1st Div, XII Corps.

At Cold Wars, long time Johnny Reb gamer,  P.J. O’Neill will be presenting a beautiful “Across A Deadly Field” (ADF) 15mm playtest of John Hill’s Gettysburg “what if?” scenario. Here are some pictures of his excellent, custom terrain boards. The scenario assumes that XII Corps responded with more urgency on July 1st, 1863 at Gettysburg and makes for an interesting, and action packed hypothetical ACW scenario. The scenario appeared in the last issue of Scott Mingus’ “Charge!” newsletter (#40) as a JR3 scenario, but can be easily adapted in ADF.

Here is a link to Wargames Vault to purchase “Charge!” issue #40 that includes the “What if Slocum wasn’t slow?” scenario:

Thanks for sharing P.J.!

P.J. O’Neill’s 15mm ADF terrain boards made especially for this scenario. Look for P.J’s game at Cold Wars.
